15th august, 2014 celebrating Independence Day with full colours, I started to walk the streets of my city. Shouting the slogan that touches our heart even today, words that give our soldier the courage to lay his life. After celebrating the magic of the day, me and my friends sat at a corner of an eating joint, ordering drinks to quench our thirst, and then we began to talk about the good and worst the war had done to all of us. After our exciting conversation we decided to leave, but suddenly a boy came from behind and asked us for some "kind", we all gave him a coin and wished him Independence Day, but to our surprise all he had was tears in his eyes. Me and my friends were taken a back by this young boys act. we again sat on our respective places and asked him , why are you crying are you not happy about our independence , though we all knew that something strong was coming , he looked at us for two min.. In deep silence and said sir you can celebrate cause you are free, but we are still in our fight for our freedom, freedom from poverty and freedom to live. You have a shelter where you can sleep, money for happiness and family for hope, but we, he pointed out to his family, they slept on road with no shelter from rain, they were each other’s shelter and protection, when they felt cold they hugged each other. And for happiness they played with the dogs on the street and ate whatever they found on roads and even shared it with the dogs they rome…
The truth is hard and there pain was real, even though their heart was full of fear yet they wished to live and die one day when they have a place to lie. That moment created numbness for all, yet he smiled and thanked us all and went back to his mother as she called.
He left us but we were still caught in that moment ,sitting there we looked at him , and that moment we decided to make a change , we got clothes , food and blanket for him and promised our self , to help as many as we could even as little as we can , cause at last ocean too is collection of tiny droplets of water. That day we realized that life is not a path of coincidence, happenstance or luck but rather an unexplained, meticulously chartered course for one to touch the life of others and make a difference in the world. have you taken your first step ?
