“Notes on Chai” is a collection of snippets of everyday conversations interwoven with abstract sound explorations that, together, create a series of images and conversations simultaneously in the everyday world and at the edge of it, encouraging the spectator to attempt to relocate his or her relationship with the quotidian.
Tea is synonymous with an Indian lifestyle – Jyoti Dogra likes her cup with ginger and cardamom – her play “Notes on Chai” stemmed from her recent study of music while she was working with Tibetan monks, and learning Western overtone singing techniques,” As I began working with sounds, the idea of working with language followed – exploring language as a way of keeping the mask, keeping the distance, and how these distances and masks often reveal more than we would care to show in conversations.”
The play has got many acclaims over the years internationally and domestically, her approach to acting is way different than what the youth today perceives it as. she has redefined theater with her own fragrances ,breaking the conventional methodological style. she is not driven by the lights of fame but by success which she defines as -"reaching the threshold of excellence".
